Behind Bars

This portfolio defines a visual sense of place of the old Dana prison in Shrewsbury

The dual symbolism of prison bars, and light from the world outside inevitably represent confinement and freedom respectively.

The two become unified as one by the projections of prison windows by sunlight onto the stark fabrics of the interior.

For those incarcerated, this motif embodies both the physical and psychological aspects of imprisonment.

Moving with the sun, the motif slowly tracks across the cell and everything within, marking time.

Doing time.
